Wear Naija Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

At Wear Naija, we are committed to formalizing the African creative economy through technology and trust. To maintain this environment, all users (Consumers and Vendors) must adhere to this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

1. Purpose

The purpose of this AUP is to define the boundaries of responsible behavior on the Wear Naija platform. By accessing our services, you agree to these terms. Violation of these terms may result in account suspension, service termination, or legal action.

2. Permitted Use

Wear Naija is a marketplace connecting Nigerian fashion vendors with customers. Users may:

  • Browse and purchase fashion products listed by verified vendors
  • Create vendor accounts to sell legitimate fashion goods
  • Communicate with vendors or customers through platform channels

3. Prohibited Activities (General)

Users may not use Wear Naija to:

  • Take Any action that violates local, state, or federal laws.
  • Send abusive, threatening, or discriminatory content to other users or staff.
  • Attempt to inject code, spam other users, or deploy automated bots to scrape platform data.
  • Sell counterfeit, stolen, or illegal goods
  • List products that violate intellectual property rights
  • Engage in fraudulent transactions or payment disputes in bad faith
  • Use the platform for money laundering or other financial crimes
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to breach platform security

4. Platform-Specific Prohibitions

4.1 For Consumers

  • Fraudulent Returns: Falsely claiming items are damaged or defective to initiate an escrow reversal.
  • Abuse of AI/AR: Using our AR Try-On or Wear AI Stylist to generate offensive, defamatory, or non-consensual content.
  • Unauthorized Resale: Purchasing items with the intent to mass-reproduce or misrepresent the source of the product.

4.2 For Vendors

  • Intellectual Property Theft: Uploading designs, prints, or patterns that do not belong to you or for which you do not have commercial rights.
  • Misrepresentation: Providing false information about fabric quality, sizing, or production origin.
  • QC Evasion: Attempting to bypass the Wear Naija product quality checks or intentionally shipping items that do not meet the standards approved during the onboarding process.

5. Vendor Obligations

Vendors must:

  • Provide accurate product descriptions and images
  • Fulfill orders within stated timelines
  • Respond to customer inquiries and disputes in good faith
  • Maintain valid KYC documentation on file

6. Intellectual Property (IP) Protection

Wear Naija is a platform for creators. We have a zero-tolerance policy for IP theft.

  • If you believe a product on our platform infringes on your copyright, you may submit a “Take-Down Request” via our legal portal.
  • Vendors found to be infringing on other designers’ work will be permanently banned from the platform.

7. Enforcement and Reporting

7.1 The “Strike” System

Wear Naija operates on a strike system regarding quality and conduct:

  • First Strike: Warning and mandatory training or service review.
  • Second Strike: Temporary suspension of account features (e.g., restricted access to “Wear AI” or listing capabilities).
  • Third Strike: Permanent account termination.

7.2 Reporting Abuse

We empower our community to self-regulate. You can report violations by:

  1. Using the “Report Item/User” button within the Wear Naija app.
  2. Emailing trust@wearnaija.com with evidence of the violation.

8. Liability Disclaimer

Wear Naija is a marketplace intermediary. While we strive to ensure the highest standards through our QC process, we are not liable for individual vendor actions that occur outside the platform’s protocols.

9. Consequences of Violation

Violation of this AUP may result in account suspension, termination, or legal action where applicable.

10. Changes to This Policy

Wear Naija reserves the right to update this AUP at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
